ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN

How to plan your arrival on Hamilton Island

We’re excited about your upcoming visit to Hamilton Island. Here is some information about checking-in and checking-out of your Hamilton Island Holiday Home.

Timing

Check-in time: 2.00pm
Check-out time: 10.00am

Before you arrive

Please advise your arrival details so we can greet you at the airport or marina to assist you with your check-in.

Please ensure your luggage is clearly labelled. Depending on the size of your group, we may need to have porters help you with transporting your luggage to your home.

If you’re arriving before 2.00pm, we recommend packing a towel and change of clothes/bathers in your hand luggage so you can slip into holiday mode straight away. Please note that beach towels will only be provided when you check-in. Lockers, change rooms and showers are available at the Resort Centre on the Beach side of the Island and also located in the Marina behind the Bakery.

To avoid disappointment, we also highly recommend pre-booking as many activities and restaurants as you can before your stay.

Where and how to check-in

If you’re arriving by plane:

If arriving by plane please visit the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes reception desk conveniently located in front of the luggage carousel. We will give you an overview of the island, but if you have any special questions about the island or your holiday home, just let us know.

If you’re arriving by Cruise Whitsundays Ferry:

If arriving by the Cruise Whitsundays Ferry, please ensure that you disembark at the Hamilton Island Airport (not the Hamilton Island Marina) and collect your luggage. Upon arrival to the Hamilton Island Airport, make your way to the Holiday Homes Office located directly opposite the ferry terminal. A Host will assist with check-in, luggage transfers and collecting your golf buggy.

Please be sure to provide the correct details for your arrival ferry when making your reservation. If these times change at all please be sure to contact Holiday Homes so we know when to expect you.

If you’re arriving by private yacht/boat:

If arriving by a private yacht please notify our team of your arrival time at least 24 hours prior to arrival.

How to find your home

You will be given a map that highlights the way to your holiday property, along with your keys.

Where and how to collect your buggy

A 4-seater buggy is included with every Hamilton Island Holiday Home.

You can collect your buggy at the airport on arrival. You will be given an overview of the rules and regulations, and demonstration of the relevant safety issues. A condition report will also be performed. You will then need to sign a registration form and provide a credit card for security (with a nominal charge of $1) before you get the key. All buggies require drivers to have a current full driver’s licence. Don’t forget to ask about insurance options.

Passengers four years of age and under are required to be restrained in an approved child seat or capsule. To ensure Buggy Hire has the required child restraints fitted for your rental, please include the number of children under the age of four travelling with you on the booking form. A maximum of two restraints per buggy can be installed. If you are travelling with more than two children under the age of four, additional buggies should be booked.

Important note for golf buggies on Hamilton Island:

  • Authorized drivers must be a minimum age of 21 years old and hold a current drivers license to drive the vehicle.
  • It is a legal requirement that a passenger less than six months old must be restrained in a rearward facing infant restraint, located in the front seat.
  • It is a legal requirement that a passenger at least six months old, but less than four years old must be restrained in a forward facing child restraint.

Where and how to check-out

Luggage:

For your convenience, a member of the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes team will arrive to collect your luggage from 8.00 am - 10.00am, depending on your departure details, on the day you are checking-out. So please ensure your luggage is packed at the front door. Your luggage will be securely stored at our reception desk located at the airport.

For all departures guests are asked to return your buggy back to the airport.

Timing:

You must be checked out by 10.00am, and your property’s keys and buggy must be returned to the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes front desk by this time.

Cleaning:

The property must be clean and tidy upon check-out. Please take the rubbish out, ensure all dishes are washed, and don’t leave any food or rubbish in the property. An additional cleaning charge will be applicable for any extra cleaning that is required.

Is there a late check-out option?

Late checkouts are subject to availability and fees apply.
